Fresh out of the oven! Sylas Matthew born Wednesday 4/22/09 at 3:30am. 6 lbs 5.5oz, 20 in length.
THANK YOU to all of your wonderful emails and messages! We love you all! I am sorry that I have not been able to personally respond, things have been pretty busy. We have a ton more pictures, but this is all I can upload right now. Shortly after Sylas was born, he was found to have low oxygen and glucose levels. He was transferred to the NICU and has remained there since. Unfortunately, a heart defect was found which was not detected on the u/s. At this point, it is unknown how this will impact things. I will update on that later. Overall, it looks like he just needs more time to adjust to being on the outside. Hopefully he will not be in the hospital any longer than a week, but they are not really confirming anything at this point. I am doing great and had an epidural during labor, so I don't need to say much more!
I was discharged yesterday from the hospital. We are heading out to visit Sylas now, so I will finish all of this later!

Oooooh, he is so handsome! He has lot of hair, doesn't he? Congrats again. Can't wait to see more photos, and I hope you get to head home soon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Elena!! He's precious!! I hope he can come home soon! I should be about 4 weeks behind you and then we can share in the second half of our journey! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, he's sooo cute! Love the hair, you guys look great. Hope he continues to improve and that you get to bring him home soon, thinking about you guys a lot, Danielle
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little man, he is sooo cute. I feel a little bit obsessed it's maybe a good thing you guys are thousands of miles away. I think about you guys all the time and check for updates more than I would like to admit. Thanks for kee[ing us informed. I bet it is a little harder not being in the hospital with him. I know that was tough on me when Tommy was born. But hang in there it is temporary. Do they let you be in the NICU whenever you want or are there specific hours? How are Sam and Sophie doing? The picture with Sophie in it was very cute, she looked in love with her little brother. Take care, love you, Lisa
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We are so happy for you guys. Don't feel bad about the spelling of Sylas. We all forget names. I forget my kid's names all the time. Sometimes I have even called them by my brother's or sister's name, and I have even used the cat's name on occasion. Take care and get some rest when you can, because the next few months will be a busy time. Say hi to Grandma Annie, Sam, and Sophie too.
ReplyDeleteLove, Aunt Michelle and Uncle Bill
